Polish aid

Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski met in Warsaw with the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Marko Bošnjak.

On Wednesday, 4 December, Poland and Sweden held consultations on development cooperation in Stockholm. Deputy Foreign Minister Jakub Wiśniewski met with Diana Janse, Sweden’s State Secretary to Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, and Jakob Granit, the Director-General of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).

The ministerial conference, organised at the initiative of Egypt and with the support of the UN, was held in Cairo on 2 December 2024. Its main purpose was to build political support for an end to the Gaza conflict and strengthen humanitarian efforts, as well as mobilise additional resources to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Poland provides €25 million to EIB fund supporting critical recovery projects in Ukraine. Polish contribution increases size of EU for Ukraine Fund to nearly €400 million.

The talks between Poland’s Deputy Foreign Minister Jakub Wiśniewski and State Secretary for Development Policy Lotte Machon of the Kingdom of Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs centred on the priorities of the Polish and Danish presidencies with respect to development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Poland and Denmark will consecutively hold Council of the EU presidencies in 2025.

When visiting New York on 15–18 July, Minister Wiśniewski spoke during the general debate of the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and in the High-Level Segment of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). He also opened an accompanying event co-organised by Poland concerning the role of resilient infrastructure in ensuring food security.

On 10 and 11 July 2024, Deputy Minister Jakub Wiśniewski visited the Republic of Moldova, meeting with the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba. The visit was also an opportunity to sign an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme to support Moldova’s education sector.

On Saturday, 1st of June, a special picnic was organised in the gardens of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister to celebrate Children’s Day. The event attracted thousands of participants, both children and adults. Among the ministries that prepared their stands in the Fairy Tale Garden was the MFA with Polish Aid booth.
