Peace, justice and strong institutions

16 Peace, justice and strong institutions

Peace and security are absolute prerequisites for development. Furthermore, sustainable development is a greater opportunity for lasting peace and international stability. Only countries where strong and stable institutions are in place, principles of good governance are applied, human rights are respected, and citizens are equally able to influence decisions on matters that concern them have a chance for sustainable and balanced development.

Polish aid supports partner countries in applying principles of good governance. We want these countries to pursue an independent, open policy in favour of sustainable development. The functioning of the state on the basis of a professional administration acting for the public good in accordance with the principles set out in the law while maintaining the transparency of processes is important. Dialogue with a strong civil society is another important feature of a well-governed state.
