Polish Aid for Belarus in the fight against COVID-19
28.04.2020
In addition to the support that reached our eastern neighbours in the convoy, Poland will provide financial assistance to Belarusian hospitals, social welfare centres and non-governmental organisations that have turned to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Minsk for help in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic.
As part of five humanitarian projects, equipment and materials for the production of masks will be purchased, as well as personal protective and medical equipment, including respirators.
The equipment will be supplied to Pinsk Central Hospital and Minsk Oncological Hospital, where patients with oxygen deficiency diseases are treated. In addition, funds for the purchase of small medical equipment and personal protective equipment will be made available for ten health care institutions and other social assistance organisations operating in the Minsk and Mogilev regions.
In the Vitebsk region, where one of the first COVID-19 outbreaks was identified, aid will be given to the Vitebsk Nursing Home for the Elderly and Disabled. Tailor shops organised by Caritas Belarus in the Children's Centre for young patients with oncological diseases in Leskovka will be provided with machines and materials for sewing masks.
Belarusian organisations that received support from Polish Aid in previous years are also joining the fight against COVID-19. Protective masks are sewn at tailor shops located at the school in Malotkavichy and in the MAP ZAO Business Incubator in Kolodischy. Protective clothing is also sewn at School No. 69 in Minsk.
