Polish Development Coorperation - 2020-2021 Report
The report presents Poland's activities in the field of development and humanitarian aid in the years 2020 and 2021 – the years of struggle against the COVID-19 global pandemic. The grant competition provided co-financing for initiatives aimed directly at combating the effects of the pandemic. The already initiated projects and activities were modified and adapted, taking into account especially the sanitary regime in a given area. In addition to responding to sudden humanitarian crises, such as the explosion in the port of Beirut or the flood in Sudan, Polish doctors, nurses and paramedics were also dispatched to Italy, the USA, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Ethiopia. Convoys of humanitarian aid containing personal protective equipment, medical equipment and tests for the SARS-CoV2 virus were transferred to Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the Western Balkans.
As a gesture of solidarity, Poland willingly shared its resources of anti-COVID-19 vaccines with countries in need. In August 2021, the first shipments of safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines took place.
