Promoting pro-environmental behaviour in the Qadisha Valley
In 1998, UNESCO classified the Kadisha Valley as a World Heritage Site due to its importance as the location of the earliest Christian monastic settlements and an enduring tribute to Christian faith. Due to the particular cultural importance of the Valley and plans to develop pilgrimage tourism, efforts were taken to improve the management of places visited by tourists. As part of the project, several dozen litter bins were installed alongside tourist trails and two cars purchased to monitor the Valley’s routes.
