Rehabilitation of Lebanese public schools with Syrian refugee children and development of school capacities, including for disadvantaged Lebanese children - the Polish-German humanitarian project in Lebanon)
2019 saw the completion of a three- year Polish-German humanitarian project consisting in rehabilitation of Lebanese public schools and development of school capacities attended by children of Syrian refugees and disadvantaged Lebanese children. The opening ceremony of the renovated schools was attended by the MFA undersecretary of state Marcin Przydacz.
Polish funds were allocated to rebuild six school in three Lebanese districts: Northern Lebanon (Ain Ekrin Mixed Public School (El Koura); Selaiman El Boustani Intermediate Public School for Girls (Tripoli), Mount Lebanon (Amateur Mixed Intermediate Public School (Chouf)), and Beqaa Valley (El Jirahiyeh Public School (Marj); Al Mualaka Boys Public School (Zahle); Hzartah Mixed Public School (Zahle). The scope of works in schools included, among others, the reconstruction of premises, repairs of roofs and water and sanitation installations, allowing access to the building/classrooms for persons with disabilities, and potentially adjusting structure improvements if required due to safety issues
The project is carried out in cooperation with the government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
A multiannual project implemented from 2017 to 2019, the total financing by the Polish side in these years amounted to EUR 3 million
