Water Safety
Summer is the time to relax by the water. To enjoy the season fully, remember these essential safety rules.
Basic Water Safety Rules:
- Swim only in supervised areas with lifeguards present. Avoid unsupervised or natural bodies of water with potentially dangerous conditions.
- Know your abilities—don’t overestimate your swimming skills. Stay near the shore if unsure, and always wear a life jacket.
- Check weather conditions before entering the water. Storms, strong winds, and high waves pose serious risks.
- Never enter the water after consuming alcohol, as it impairs motor skills and judgment.
- Use flotation devices if you are not a confident swimmer; they can save lives.
