29.05.2020New opportunities amidst COVID-19 crisis: Poland and Singapore vow to strengthen economic cooperationIn a Joint Ministerial Statement issued on 29 May, the Republic of Poland Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Jadwiga Emilewicz and Singapore Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing affirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and connectivity in the face of challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic. Poland and Singapore ministers met virtually this afternoon via a videoconference link. In the statement, both parties committed to work closely to improve and expedite the flow of goods, in particular essential goods, including food and agricultural products as well as to ensure that trade lines, including via air and sea freight, are open, efficient and effective, making both economies stronger and more resilient.

10.04.2020The tenth anniversary of the Smolensk plane crashOn 10 April 2010, a special TU-154M plane with the President of Poland Lech Kaczyński and the First Lady Maria Kaczyńska on board took off from Warsaw to Smolensk. That day, in the Katyn War Cemetery the official delegation was to participate in an event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the genocide committed on site. The aircraft carried 96 people, including members of supreme state authorities, representatives of social circles and Churches, high-ranking military commanders and the plane’s crew. All the flight passengers died in the air disaster which took place during landing at the airport near Smolensk.
