Visa Information for applicants from Hong Kong / Macau
General Requirements
The Consulate only accepts applications of residents of the mission’s jurisdiction (i.e. Hongkong SAR and Macao SAR). Please bring a valid Hong Kong Identity Card or Macao SAR Resident Identity Card and valid visa if applicable to prove a place of your residence.
You can apply for a visa no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 calendar days before your planned journey.
Prior to visiting the Consulate register your visa application on-line at: www.secure.e-konsulat.gov.pl . A registered application form must be printed out and signed by the applicant; all entries should be properly filled out (with no blanks).

Applicants must submit a visa application in person. Only original documents in Polish or English language are accepted (no scans or photos).
Generally decisions are made within 15 calendar days. In individual cases that time may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days (national visa) or 60 calendar days (Schengen visa).
CONSULAR FEES are to be paid in HKD upon submitting your application at the Consulate. The visa application fee is non-refundable, regardless of the consul's decision. The only accepted form of payment is cash. Please read more about our fees HERE.
Before you apply, you must decide which visa you need:
1. Schengen visa (C-type)
The Schengen Visa (C-type) is valid in the Schengen Area and permits its holder to remain in the territory of all of the Schengen Area Member Countries for a maximum of 90 days during a 180-day period.
Required documents when applying for a C-type visa:
1. Visa application form registered in the e-konsulat system, printed and signed,
2. Travel document (passport):
- valid for at least three months after the planned date of leaving the Schengen Area or, in the event of multiple visits, after the planned date of the last departure from the Schengen Area,
- contains at least two blank pages,
- issued during the last ten years.

3. Photo: no older than 6 months, passport type, in colour, dimensions: 35mmx45mm, white background, no retouch (compliant with ICAO standards: https://ec.europa.eu/home-affairs/system/files/2016-12/icao_photograph_guidelines_en.pdf)
4. Valid Hong Kong or Macao SAR Resident Identity Card and Visa to confirm resident status in Hong Kong or Macao and 1 copy;
Supporting documents when applying for a C-type visa:
5. Proof of solvency (for example: bank statements for the last 3 months or another proof of regular income: a letter from the employer stating the name of the employer, the name of the employee, his/her job title, annual salary, date of employment and if relevant the duration of his/her contract. If the letter of employment is not available it can be replaced by other proof of regular income, for example: a letter from the university granting a scholarship or proof of pension etc.
6. Proof of accommodation for the whole duration of intended stay;
7. Flight round trip reservation(s);
8. Travel itinerary (applicant’s detailed travel plan);
9. Any other documents proving the applicant’s intention to leave the Schengen area before the visa expires;
10. Travel medical insurance for the whole intended period of stay with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000, valid in all Schengen Area, and covering all expenses that may arise in connection with the repatriation for medical reasons, medical emergency, hospital treatment or death;
Documents confirming a purpose and conditions of your planned stay in Poland (according to the type of visa):
11. Tourism
- a detailed travel plan together with confirmed transportation, tour booking/hotel reservation/rental of apartment for the whole duration of stay;
12. Visiting family/friends
- official invitation (ZAPROSZENIE) registered by the host in a Polish Provincial Office (Urząd Wojewódzki) or, if applicable:
- an invitation issued by the host in the country of destination. The invitation must be issued at least 1 day before the visa application is submitted. It should state the name and the contact details (address, phone number/e-mail) of the host and the period of duration of the stay;
- copy of passport or residence permit of inviting person;
- inviting person’s bank statement for the last 3 months.
13. Business or a short professional training course
- employing company’s registration documents as well as the original letter from the employer on official company paper with stamp and signature, stating: full address and contact persons of the company, the name and position of the countersigning officer, applicant’s name, position, salary and years of employment, the purpose of visit, confirmation of position after applicant’s return, the person who or the entity that will bear the applicant’s travel and living costs.
- invitation letter from the organiser of the event or the training course on official company paper with stamp and signature, stating: full address and contact persons of the company, the name and position of the countersigning officer, purpose and duration of the visit, detailed programme, the person who or the entity that will bear applicant’s travel and living costs.
14. Travelling to attend cultural/sports events
- invitation from the organiser of the event of the country of destination, on official letterhead paper with stamp, mentioning: purpose and duration of the stay, detailed programme and itinerary, details of accommodation during the period of the intended stay.
- letter from Hong Kong or Macao cultural or sports organisation, on official letterhead paper with stamp, mentioning: full address and contact details of the organisation, the name and position of the countersigning officer, applicant’s name, position, salary and years of employment (only for professionals), confirmation of participation.
- declaration by the entity that will pay for travel and living costs.
15. Scientific activity, training, teaching
- a letter of acceptance or admission from a host organization in Poland;
16. Working (paid employment)
- a Promise of a Work Permit in Poland obtained for the applicant by his/her prospective employer or an employment contract (if Work Permit is not required);
17. Family members of EU citizens (this simplified procedure applies to family members of EU citizens other than Polish).
- valid identity card or passport of their EU family member;
- a document proving family ties with the EU citizen (e.g. marriage certificate, birth certificate etc.) and, if applicable, proof of dependency, durability of partnership etc.;
- proof that they will accompany or join the EU citizen in the EU host country, that is:
a) proof that the EU citizen is already present in the EU host country (e.g. a valid registration certificate issued by the host country);
b) if the EU citizen is not yet present in the EU host country: a declaration that the EU citizen will travel to the EU country of destination;
There is no visa fee if you meet the above mentioned requirements. Appointment booking in the e-konsulat system is not required.
2.National visa (D – type)
The National visa (D-type) permits to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland and to stay continuously or for several successive times on its territory for a total duration of more than 90 days during the period of validity of the visa, but not longer than one year. The National visa (D-type) also permits to travel in the territory of other Schengen Area Member States for up to 90 days during a 180-day period, during the validity period of the visa.
Required documents when applying for a National visa (D-type):
1. Visa application form filled out via the e-konsulat system, printed and signed;
2. Travel document (passport):
- valid for at least three months longer than the expiry date of a visa you are applying for;
- contains at least two blank pages;
- issued during the last ten years.

3. Photo no older than 6 months (see requirements HERE);
4. Valid ID card to confirm resident status in Hong Kong or Macao and it’s copy;
5. Bank statement from last 3 months or other documents confirming possession of adequate financial resources (accordingly to Ordinance of the Regulation of Minister of Internal Affairs of 23 February 2015);
6. Proof of accommodation during whole period of stay in Poland;
7. Flight reservation;
8. Documents that allow to assess whether the applicant will leave the territory of Poland before the visa expires;
9. Medical travel insurance for the whole intended period of stay, with minimum coverage of 30,000 EUR, valid on the territory of Poland, and covering all expenses that may arise in connection with the need to return for medical reasons, a medical emergency, urgent hospitalisation or death; You can find a list of approved insurance policies HERE.

10. Work
- Original work permit (document issued by relevant Polish local authorities). In case the work permit is not required according to the Polish regulations, the employer's letter confirming the intention to employ the foreigner must be presented.;
- Employer's written declaration: the employer's letter (or employment contract) must confirm the intention to employ the foreigner as well as conditions, place and character of employment;
- For employees delegated to work in Poland: a sealed copy of the business license of the employing company and an original employment letter from the employer
- CV of the applicant.
11. Study
- Certificate of admission or continuation issued by an educational establishment for the purpose of attending academic course - in accordance with the format set out in the Ordinance of the Minister of Science and Higher Education from 23th of September 2019.
- Proof of payment for studies issued by the educational institution; if studies are free of charge, a confirmation from the university is mandatory.
- Relevant documents confirming previous education (originals should be presented at the counter):
i. Higher secondary certificate (legalized/apostilled) if the applicant is applying for the first year of studies. The decision of the competent Polish education superintendent regarding the recognition of the certificate may be required. ii. Higher studies certificates/diplomas of graduation - if the applicant applies for MA, postgraduate, PhD studies etc.
- Language certificate or another proof of language level required by an educational institution to undertake studies;
12. Student exchange
- Recommendation letter from the university in Hong Kong and Macao confirming student’s status and purpose of travel to Poland;
- Copy of the agreement/official information from the universities regarding the student exchange;
- Letter of acceptance from the Polish university.
3. A-type airport transit visa
An airport transit visa is a visa valid for transit through the international transit areas of one or more airports of the Member States.
To check if you need to apply for an airport transit visa, please visit the website of the European Commission. In principle, in case of transit through the international transit areas of airports located in Poland, this will apply to citizens of: Afghanistan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Cuba, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka Please bear in mind that an airport transit visa only permits you to stay in the international transit area of an airport while awaiting a flight to your destination country. It does not entitle you to enter into or stay in the Schengen Area.
4. Visa for a minor
At least one of the parents/legal guardians shall be present for the submission of visa application. Required documents when applying for a visa for a minor:
13. Minor’s Birth Certificate and Certified Copy of an Entry in Register of Births Kept in Terms of Births and Deaths Registration Ordinance. Both documents should be apostilled;
14. Originals and copies of legal guardians' passports;
15. If the minor is travelling alone or with only one parent: a notary certificate of permission to travel from legal guardian(s).
PLEASE NOTE:
1. The Consulate may ask for additional documents as well as to invite applicant for an interview at any time;
2. You have the right to submit missing documents within 14 days from the appointment date (or 7 days in case of STUDY visa);

4. Spouses of Polish citizens are exempt from visa fee (please provide a marriage certificate).
5. All foreign public documents (i.e. legal and civil registry documents) must be apostilled.
