A study visit to Denmark

Mr. Janusz Kowalski, Secretary of State and Plenipotentiary for the Energy Transition of Rural Areas, participated in a two-day visit to Denmark.
Purpose of the visit
The visit was dedicated to an exchange of experiences and the possible cooperation between Poland and Denmark in the area of the biogas and biomethane market.
The representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the National Support Centre for Agriculture and self-governments participated in the meetings which took place on 13 and 14 February 2023.
Agenda of the visit
The agenda focused on Danish experiences in the biogas and biomethane sector and the measures to enhance the biogas production level and regional development resulting from biogas production. During the visit, solutions to enhance the biogas production level were presented. They were illustrated with the so-called Danish agricultural biogas model.
The representatives of the Polish and Danish authorities visited biogas plants on the Danish island of Fyn and the plant laboratory where they became acquainted with practices of sustainable biogas and biomethane production.
The agenda mainly focused on the production of biogas from agricultural crops and organic waste.
The development of renewable energy sources in Poland is one of the priorities of its Government.
