15.10.2024

– Poland is a major producer and exporter of food. The value of goods we delivered to foreign markets exceeds EUR 52 billion. Since the accession of our country to the European Union, we have increased the value of sales of agricultural and food products to foreign markets by more than ten times – said the Secretary of State Jacek Czerniak during a meeting with the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Poland.

Food security and agriculture

– Cooperation with the diplomatic corps is important to us in two aspects: food security and agriculture. I would like to thank you, the diplomats accredited in Poland, for this hard work for this cooperation, which we are strengthening here today – said the Polish Deputy Minister of Agriculture.

By the agency of the diplomats, Jacek Czerniak thanked foreign consumers who had trusted Polish products. Consumers who appreciate quality and choose Polish products. – This quality and this unique taste are, naturally, the result of the work of Polish food producers and processors – emphasised the Deputy Minister.

The Secretary of State stressed that the meeting was a good opportunity to talk about the condition of Polish, European and world agriculture.

Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU

Deputy Minister Jacek Czerniak reminded that the first half of 2025 would be particularly important for Poland, as it would be the time of the Polish presidency in the Council of the EU. He referred to the issues which would be the priority in the field of agriculture during the Polish presidency.

– Details regarding the priorities of the Polish presidency are still being elaborated. We would like to address, first of all, the issue of food security and the future of the common agricultural policy. During our presidency, a debate will be held on the vision concerning agriculture and food – informed the Deputy Minister.

Jacek Czerniak also referred to the issues related to the Green Deal. Agriculture is a very difficult field. We know what problems affect European and Polish farmers, in particular, in the context of the Green Deal. We will make every effort to rationalise the implementation of the Green Deal. Climate change will be the subject of our actions, particularly, in the context of agriculture – he stressed.

In the context of the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU, Jacek Czerniak welcomed the presence of the representatives of Denmark and Cyprus, who would be our partners in the Presidency trio.
