Meeting with representatives of the dairy industry from Poland and Germany

On 7 September 2021, Secretary of State Ryszard Bartosik met with the Association of the German Dairy Industry’s representatives staying in Poland. The talks were also participated in by the representatives of the Polish Federation of Cattle Breeders and Dairy Farmers.

The objective of the meeting was to exchange experiences and views related to the dairy sector in Poland, Germany and the European Union and to discuss the future of dairy farmers in the context of changing legal and market conditions.

Deputy Minister Bartosik provided information on the characteristics of the Polish dairy sector, by presenting its strengths and pointing to the key challenges facing this sector.

– The dairy sector is one of the most important branches of the Polish agri-food sector and constitutes a permanent source of income and food for around 200 thousand farms in Poland, including around 100 thousand farms delivering raw material to the dairy industry – stressed Ryszard Bartosik.

In conclusion, the Deputy Minister stressed the good results in Polish agri-food exports, despite the pandemic. – The Polish dairy sector faces ambitious challenges, but I am convinced that we will be able to meet them thanks to the great adaptability of the industry. The Polish dairy sector successfully exits from the difficult period of the last two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is indicated, among others, by good results of foreign trade – said the Secretary of State at the MARD.
