On the competitiveness of Polish food at WorldFood Poland
16.04.2024
“We are a large producer and exporter of food products. The Ministry of Agriculture is making great effort to ensure the safety and high quality of food produced in Poland, a task that would not be possible without the producers and the financial support from the state budget and the EU. We would like to express our gratitude to all those involved in this production,” said Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski at the opening of the WorldFood Poland trade fair in Warsaw. The Deputy Minister also took part in a debate on “How to ensure the competitiveness of the Polish food industry? Sustainable Food Production and Processing”.
The 10th edition of the WorldFood Poland International Food & Drink, Food Processing and Packaging Exhibition is taking place from 16 to 18 April 2024 at the Expo XXI complex in Warsaw. The event is held under the honorary patronage of Czesław Siekierski, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Polish food competitiveness – quality and safety
“After joining the European Union, we have intensified our focus on organic food production and quality systems. Today, thanks to the work of producers and financial support from the state budget and the EU, Polish food competes on global markets in terms of quality. As a ministry, we are doing a lot to support the development of quality food production in Poland,” said Deputy Minister Stefan Krajewski.
The Secretary of State noted that food production encompasses many sectors of the economy, and a very important part of this production is quality control throughout the process, as it ensures that consumers can be confident in the safety of food products and trust product certifications.
Challenges for Polish and global food production
“The global demand for food is constantly increasing, and so are the challenges for food production,” said Deputy Minister Stefan Krajewski. The Secretary of State said that the WorldFood Poland event was a meeting platform for all those who contribute to the widespread availability and safety of food.
“At the fair, we also discuss the challenges facing Polish food production. We produce high quality food in Poland and we are an important exporter. Today, we are looking for answers to the question of what more we should do in the area of food production, especially as the recent challenges related to pandemics and war show how important this area is,” said the Secretary of State.
Deputy Minister Stefan Krajewski noted that, on the one hand, we are facing the need for a large increase in global food production – up to 80 per cent in the next 30 years – and, on the other hand, food production is also facing climatic and environmental challenges. However, he stressed that solutions to these challenges do not have to be mutually exclusive.
The Deputy Minister went on to say that trade relations between producers and buyers were of great importance.
“Today's fair is a great opportunity to make new contacts and discuss the future of the sector,” added Deputy Minister Stefan Krajewski.
