On the possibilities of increasing the export of Polish apples to Jordan

– Poland is an important producer and exporter of agri-food products in the European Union and in the world – stressed the Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski during an industry seminar with the participation of Polish exporters and Jordanian importers of apples. – That is why we are glad about the steadily growing level of export of Polish apples to the Jordanian market – added the Deputy Minister.
Time for apples from Europe
Today’s event is a part of the campaign entitled “Time for apples from Europe”, which for three years has been implemented by the Polish Fruit Growers Association in the markets of Jordan and Egypt for three years.
The meeting was also attended by: Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and Chairman of the Polish Fruit Growers Association Mirosław Maliszewski, as well as the representatives of the State Plant Health and Seed Inspection Service and the National Support Centre for Agriculture.
The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of increasing the export of Polish apples to Jordan and to identify potential problems with the export of these fruit.
Presentation of the Polish export offer
The Secretary of State Stefan Krajewski assured that Poland was ready to increase the volume and expand the range of exported products to the Jordanian market.
The Polish experts presented the data on the export of apples from Poland to Jordan, stressing that the quantity of apples sent there was the largest among customers in the Middle East region. Also, the information about a wide offer of high-quality food products produced in Poland was presented.
Position of the Jordanian party
The Jordanian importers confirmed their willingness to strengthen bilateral trade relations with Polish contractors. They informed about the interest in increasing the level of import of agri-food products from Poland. Polish apples present in the Jordanian market are valued for their high quality and exceptional taste qualities.
Results of the Polish agri-food export to Jordan
In 2023, the value of agri-food export to Jordan amounted to nearly EUR 40 million. Goods exported to Jordan in 2023 included: apples, pears and quinces, fresh cheese and curd, milk and cream as well as bread, buns and confectionery. From January to July 2024, the value of export to Jordan amounted to more than EUR 18 million. The commodity structure in that period was similar to the corresponding period of 2023. Apples are the first food product exported from Poland to Jordan.
