The purpose of the meeting was to present Poland's position on the compromise solutions proposed by the Portuguese Presidency in the framework of the negotiated reform of the Common Agricultural Policy.

The ambition of Portugal is to reach, during the Presidency of the Council, a consensus between the Council and the European Parliament, with the approval of the European Commission, on a package of Regulations covering the strategic plans of the Common Agricultural Policy, the financing, management and monitoring of the CAP and the common organisation of the markets in agricultural products.

- We support the Presidency in its efforts to reach a compromise, said Minister Grzegorz Puda. In the opinion of Poland, the final assessment of the overall compromise will be significantly affected by decisions on other important elements of the CAP reform, including green architecture.

- The EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council must give the European Parliament a clear signal that nothing is established until the final decisions have been taken and the negotiations are still in progress, stressed Minister Grzegorz Puda.

The Common Agricultural Policy reform package will be discussed at the next meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council in Brussels on 22-23 March 2021.
