Purpose of the meeting

The key messages will serve as the collective regional contribution to the event which will take stock of the 2-year UN Food Systems Summit process (Food Systems Stocktaking Moment) in Rome on 24-26 July 2023.

The Convenor’s function

Deputy Minister Anna performs the function of the National Convenor of the UN Food Systems Summit process. Among others, she was responsible for organising the National Dialogue and preparing the so-called National Pathway in 2021.

Polish actions

Deputy Minister took the floor as the first one of the keynote speakers in the panel: Food systems transformation as SDGs accelerator (SDGs - Sustainable Development Goals).

In her speech she described the Polish actions in the scope of the transformation of food systems, stressing that the transformation towards the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals was strictly related to Poland’s national priorities adopted for many goals of the 2030  Agenda.

Deputy Minister Anna Gembicka pointed out, in particular, the context of food security.

“The transformation of food systems cannot be assessed solely in terms of technological progress, innovation or digitisation or climate protection. The most important benchmark for the actions taken should be citizens’ food security and quality of living. Today, food security is just as important as defence and energy security, and this situation affects the goals of food systems transformation,” the Secretary of State stressed.
