Polish-Israeli talks at the MARD

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski met Israeli Ambassador to Poland Yacov Livne on Friday, February 16. The officials confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the area of agriculture.
The position of Poland
Minister Siekierski noted the untapped potential of Polish-Israeli relations and expressed hope for an increased agri-food trade. ‘We look forward to lifting the restrictions on access of Polish agri-food products to the Israeli market,’ he said.
The Polish Minister of Agriculture also invited the Israeli Minister of Agriculture to visit Poland, later this year, together with a group of Israeli business representatives interested in establishing trade relations with Polish suppliers. The Minister also stressed that he was open to the possibility of preparing a Polish-Israeli seminar – as a platform for discussion and cooperation – in the area of modern technologies in agriculture and trade.
‘The use of modern technologies in agriculture is extremely important, especially in the context of climate change and the need to ensure food security,’ he emphasised.
The position of Israel
Ambassador Livne confirmed the possibility of cooperation in the field of modern technologies in agriculture and expressed his hope to intensify trade with Poland. He pointed out that beef has been a highly popular and trusted Polish product among Israeli consumers for many years. Mr Livne stressed that Israel is interested in expanding exports of its agricultural products, such as citrus fruits, to the European Union, including Poland.
The Ambassador invited Minister Siekierski to visit Israel.
Trade with Israel to date
In 2023 (data for 11 months), the value of agricultural exports to Israel reached almost €337.2 million (down about 25% from 2022). Poland’s exports were mainly beef, sugar, mineral water, bakery products and syrups.
