Polish-Kenyan talks

The purpose of yesterday’s meeting at the seat of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development between Secretary of State Lech Kołakowski and Mr. Jonathan Mueke, Secretary of State for Livestock Development of Kenya, was to discuss the current cooperation of the countries in the field of agriculture.

The position of Poland

Deputy Minister Lech stressed that Poland was interested in continuing the cooperation with its Kenyan partners in the agricultural sector, in the context of both trade and the relations in scientific research. At the same time, he stated that in order to increase the Polish exports to the Kenyan market, the veterinary services should complete the procedures to agree health certificates for selected products of animal origin.

The position of Kenya

Secretary of State Jonathan Mueke expressed his appreciation of the achievements of the Polish agri-food sector with which he had had an opportunity to become acquainted during his stay in Poland. He declared his interest in stepping up the cooperation with Polish entities, among others, in the scope of the production of milk, meat, feeds or hides. At the same time, he informed about the plans to purchase agricultural buildings and equipment, such as silos, drying facilities, laboratories or agricultural machinery.

Polish agri-food exports to Kenya

In 2022, the value of the Polish exports of agri-food products to Kenya exceeded EUR 40 million. Wheat was the main export commodity. We also exported malt extract and flour-containing processed foods. A positive growing trend also continued in the period from January to April 2023.
