- Development of cooperation in the sector of agriculture
- Memorandum on cooperation
Today, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski received the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Sudan, Omer Gamar Eldin Ismail.
The meeting was held at the initiative of the Sudanese side, as part of bilateral political consultations, and its objective was to discuss the possibility of establishing more intensive agricultural relations.
Minister Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski introduced the Sudanese delegation to the conditions of agricultural production in Poland and admitted that the development of cooperation depended primarily on both sides being aware of each other’s needs and potential.
The Sudanese side expressed the will to tighten economic relations with Poland, in the field of agriculture in particular. Both sides agreed that one of the main areas of bilateral cooperation, apart from activities aimed to increase trade exchange, should be Polish investments in the Sudanese agricultural sector, which will enable the country to fully tap into its potential for agricultural production.
This mutual interest in developing bilateral contacts was expressed through signing the Memorandum on Understanding between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland and the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Republic of the Sudan on the matter of cooperation in the area of agriculture, which assumes taking such measures as supporting the trade in agri-food products through developing business relations as well as exchanging experiences and information in the field of agriculture and agricultural processing.
The Republic of the Sudan, on account of its geographical location and controlled Red Sea ports, is an important partner for entities interested in developing economic cooperation with countries of the North-East Africa region.
