The topic of the talks

The meeting was devoted to the issue of the transit of agricultural products from Ukraine through Poland’s territory.

Poland’s position

Deputy Minister Rafał Romanowski declared that Poland would continue to support Ukraine at the international level. At the same time, he noted that Ukrainian cereals should primarily be transited through Poland’s territory rather than remain in our country. It is only such a solution that will enable the supply of Ukrainian cereals to countries most in need and contribute to strengthening food security.

Deputy Minister Rafał Romanowski stressed that the support provided by Poland to Ukraine in the exports of agricultural products must not cause disturbances on the internal market and pose a threat to Polish producers and consumers.

The Polish Deputy also pointed out cases of abuse on the part of dishonest carriers. He recalled that, in response to irregularities in the trade in cereals intended for technical purposes, the Polish Ministry of Agriculture had decided to strengthen supervision over the cereals coming into our country from Ukraine.

Ukraine’s position

Deputy Minister Markiyan Dmytrasevych expressed the gratitude for the support which Ukraine had received from Poland, including in the scope of the transport of agricultural products.

He agreed that any cases of abuse should be addressed as soon as possible and declared full cooperation in this scope. In addition, he informed that Ukraine wanted to improve the transit of cereals for the purposes of their further transport to third countries, including through Polish seaports.

The Deputy Ministers agreed to continue technical talks in this scope.
