Polish-Ukrainian talks

Today, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski received in Warsaw the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval. It was the first meeting between the heads of the Ministries of Agriculture of Poland and Ukraine since the appointment of Vitaliy Koval to this position in September 2024. Minister Siekierski was accompanied by the Director General of the MARD Bogusław Wijatyk and the employees of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The meeting was aimed at resuming the dialogue between Poland and Ukraine concerning the matters of the agri-food sector at the ministerial level and at setting directions for further cooperation.
Position of Poland
Minister Czesław Siekierski stated that in recent months there had been many changes in agricultural markets. He reminded that in August in Kraków, the Polish Ministry of Agriculture organised a summer school for officials from Ukraine and Moldova, the objective of which was to transfer Polish experiences with regard to adapting the Polish agri-food sector to the EU requirements. The training was attended by a dozen or so Ukrainian officials.
Position of Ukraine
Minister Vitaliy Koval expressed his interest in Poland’s experiences in the transformation of the agri-food sector and successful adaptation to EU requirements. He also expressed his hope for implementing joint projects between producers and exporters of the two countries.
Findings
During the talks, the Ministers confirmed the need to organise regular consultations between the Ministries of Agriculture of Poland and Ukraine at the working level. They agreed to engage agricultural organisations of both countries, as well as representatives of scientific institutes, in the dialogue.
