At the seat of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Robert Telus, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Mr. Mark Brzezinski, US Ambassador to Poland, talked about the most important issues within the scope of bilateral cooperation in the agri-food sector.

Status of relations in the field of agriculture

Minister Robert Telus said that Poland expected a quick completion of the process of opening the US market to Polish apples and pears.

Ambassador Mark Brzezinski expressed his appreciation of the high quality of Polish food. He also declared that the US agricultural administration was ready to continue the talks on the procedures to enable the exports of Polish products to the USA.

The parties declared their willingness to maintain the Polish-US dialogue on agricultural and trade issues.

Disturbances on the agricultural markets caused by the war in Ukraine

The interlocutors paid much attention to the difficult situation on the global agricultural markets caused by the continued armed conflict in Ukraine. Minister Robert Telus stressed the Polish support given to Ukraine on different levels since the beginning of the war.

Trade in agri-food products

The United States is one of Poland’s most important partners in agri-food trade. In 2022, our exports to the USA reached a record value of EUR 770 million. For several years now, Polish chocolate, cocoa-containing products and pork have enjoyed the greatest interest on the US market.
