Proposals for intensifying cooperation

Deputy Minister Ryszard Bartosik thanked the Association for Innovation in Agriculture (SIW) for the organisation of the visit of the African partners to Polish poultry farms and processing plants. The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development noted that to date the cooperation in agriculture between Poland and Tanzania and Angola had not been intensive; still, the promising results of mutual trade should be highlighted. He informed the Angolan and Tanzanian partners that Poland was a major producer of agri-food products, including poultry, assuring them that we were interested in increasing exports to the markets of both countries.

The Deputy Minister pointed out the need to remove the barriers hampering the development of trade. In this context, he expressed his hopes that the veterinary certificates for a number of products for exports to Angola and Tanzania would be agreed as urgently as possible. The details of the Polish proposals were presented by Mr. Krzysztof Jażdżewski, Deputy Chief Veterinary Officer. The talks between the veterinary services of Poland and these countries will be continued.

The interest of the representatives of Zanzibar in poultry imports

The representatives of Angola and Tanzania expressed their appreciation of the achievements of the Polish agri-food sector in its poultry industry and stressed that they considered Poland to be the leader in Europe in terms of both breeding and processing quality. Especially, the representatives of Zanzibar (an autonomous part of Tanzania) expressed their hopes for entering into direct trade relations with our producers in order to import poultry from Poland. They also confirmed their interest in agreeing the health certificates for poultry meat and poultry meat products. Moreover, the representatives of Zanzibar informed that they would like to import production equipment and technologies from Poland in order to support the development of its poultry industry.
