During the meeting opinions were exchanged on the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in agriculture. An important topic of the talks was also global food security and the contributions of Poland and the USA to safeguarding it.

The talks also addressed the visit to Poland by M. T. Vilsack, US Secretary of Agriculture, which is planned for 16 May of this year.

Deputy Prime Minister Henryk Kowalczyk pointed out a positive trend in agri-food exports to the USA, including in the scope of pork sales. He stressed an interest in quick opening of the possibilities for exports of more categories of agri-food products, primarily apples and pears.

The USA is one of Poland’s most important trade partners in the agri-food sector. Polish agri-food exports to the US market in 2021 reached a level of USD 725.3 million (USD 612.1 million in 2020). In 2021, the USA took the leader’s position in Polish pork imports (a third position in 2020, following the Czech Republic and Slovakia).
