Visiting the Polagra trade fair

The trade fair exhibitions were visited by the Minister of Agriculture of Palestine Riyad M.Y. Attari who was accompanied by Polish Secretary of State Ryszard Bartosik. The ministers visited the stands of exhibitors offering agri-food products and equipment for food processing. At the stands, guests could taste Polish food specialities, and Palestinian entrepreneurs accompanying the Minister had the opportunity to talk to Polish agri-food producers about the possibilities of establishing trade relations.

During their talks, the ministers exchanged information on the current state of the agricultural sector and its development plans in Poland and Palestine. They agreed that the potential of mutual relations is still untapped. It is therefore advisable to strengthen cooperation, which may develop, inter alia, in the area of trade in agricultural and food products or in the sphere of scientific and research contacts.

Visit in a plant breeding company – Danko Hodowla Roślin

To demonstrate the practical dimension of the functioning of Polish agriculture, Secretary of State Ryszard Bartosik invited Minister R. Attari to visit DANKO Hodowla Roślin Sp. z o.o. in Choryń, a company which belongs to and is supervised by the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR). The management of DANKO presented the delegation with information on the activities of the company, whose mission is to improve the efficiency of Polish agriculture by creating and implementing biological progress in plant and animal production. The visitors were particularly interested in various aspects of the creative breeding of rye, wheat, soya, etc. carried out by the company. The delegation visited the plants belonging to DANKO.

Opportunities for Polish-Palestinian cooperation

The Chairman of the Palestinian delegation expressed the hope that the Memorandum on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture signed between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland and the Minister of Agriculture of Palestine will provide an impulse for the implementation of joint projects, including those in the field of science and research. Minister R. Attari declared his willingness to tap into Polish experience with regard to the developments in plant and animal breeding, applying it in Palestine through cooperation with research institutes supervised by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and, in the practical dimension, with companies supervised by KOWR.
