“We must be strong together and united with our allies. And this is what we are when we talk about sanctions and how to make Russia change its policy and stop its aggression,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

The partnership of Poland and the United States

Today’s visit of Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, confirms the Polish-American strategic partnership. The politicians discussed the international community’s joint response to Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine during the meeting. The key is to cut off Russia from the funding sources for the war effort and strengthen NATO’s eastern flank and security in our region.

Vice President Kamala Harris emphasised that her presence is a confirmation of the US commitment to strengthening NATO’s eastern flank in Poland. The United States are ready to defend all principles that are integral to the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance. Kamala Harris and Mateusz Morawiecki also discussed sanctions against Russia and cutting it off from funding sources for the war effort. During the sanctions talk, the leaders stressed that Russian Federation would face the consequences for its actions.

The United States fully reaffirmed allied commitments and assured us that Putin would face severe consequences for his aggressive actions. I am very pleased that the United States share Poland’s view on complete independence from Russian energy resources and, as one of the first countries in the world, introduced an embargo on them,” said PM Mateusz Morawiecki.

The cooperation between Poland and Canada on many levels

In the afternoon, the Prime Ministers of Poland and Canada met at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland. Both politicians emphasised the strength of the alliance between our countries. The main topic of discussion was sanctions against Russia and the possibilities of influencing a change of policy and stopping the aggression by President Putin. The PMs also discussed ways to become independent from Russian energy resources.

“I am thankful that we stand together and are united in the face of these great challenges, discussing the future and how to get rid of Russian oil and gas and make sure that sanctions effectively improve the security of Ukraine and this part of the world. Because the safety of the transatlantic community largely depends on this,” said Polish PM.

Poland and Canada strongly condemn violations of international charters and agreements by the Russian Federation. Both countries are unanimous on the subject of sanctions and stand for the freedom and sovereignty of Ukraine. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also stressed the importance and strength of cooperation between our countries. Poland is a vital NATO partner, standing shoulder to shoulder with Canada. The security of the entire transatlantic community depends on close cooperation within NATO with the countries of North America.
