Ukrainians fleeing the war and those fighting heroically to defend their country require support. From the very first moment, Polish women and men have become involved in many different ways - they organise collections, transport, provide accommodation, offer legal, psychological or interpreting assistance. The organisation of humanitarian aid is also a topic of international discussion. The head of the Polish government discussed these issues with the European Commissioner for Crisis Management during a video conversation.
Coordinated humanitarian aid
The head of the Polish government and the European Commissioner for Crisis Management raised the issue of coordinating support in Ukraine both within the framework of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and humanitarian aid within the framework of the United Nations.
The EU Civil Protection Mechanism has been in operation since 2001. It is a system for coordinating rescue and humanitarian aid in response to natural and human-made disasters.
Poland serves as a hub of support for Ukraine
The discussion on humanitarian aid was also attended by the Head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, Michał Dworczyk, and the Deputy Foreign Minister, Paweł Jabłoński. Poland serves as a hub of support, and the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the Government Strategic Reserve Agency and the relevant voivodes, coordinate humanitarian aid for Ukraine and Ukrainians fleeing the war.
Helping Ukraine
A portal for aid has been launched - dedicated to those who need it and to those who are ready to provide it. Whether you are looking for rescue from war or want to support refugees, visit: https://pomagamukrainie.gov.pl/
Remember that assistance for Ukraine is important, but it must be carried out in a coordinated way and meet the needs of the Ukrainian side. Providing it is now one of the key actions of the Polish Government.
