The prime ministers discussed the current and potential future consequences of Russian aggression on the situation
in both countries, including those related to security, finance and the economy. They also reviewed the possibilities of providing support to Ukrainian citizens crossing the borders of Poland and Moldova, as well as cooperation in this area. More than 600,000 Ukrainian refugees have already entered Poland. Moldova has also seen a significant number of people fleeing the war cross its borders.

Support for Moldova

Prime Minister Morawiecki has proposed to provide Moldova with direct, non-refundable financial support due to the difficult situation of its public finances. Prime Minister Gavriliţa stressed the importance of this unique gesture of solidarity in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Moldovan administration and mitigating the impact of the Russian aggression.

Eastern and European Partnership

Poland and Moldova work with each other under such initiatives as Eastern Partnership, which has been in place since 2009 and aims to bolster cooperation between the EU Member States and the EU's eastern neighbours, including Moldova and Ukraine.

Since Moldova has recently declared its intent to join the European Union, the meeting also addressed the possibility of further institutional and expert support for the pro-European reforms of the Moldovan government, which would be coordinated on the Polish side by a special representative of the Prime Minister.
