Mental health
Together we can create a healthier and more supportive working environment!
What is mental health?
Mental health is your mental, emotional and social well-being. It is your ability to:
- cope with daily challenges,
- maintain a relationship with your social environment,
- make decisions,
- achieve personal and professional goals.
Your mental health is just as important as your physical health; it is the foundation of overall human well-being.
What might indicate that your psychological well-being is at risk?
- stress,
- depressed mood,
- anxiety,
- professional burnout.
The consequences of these symptoms can negatively affect your personal and professional life.
Mental health plays a key role in how we function and whether we are effective in our daily work. This applies to every profession and every type of work. It is no different in the civil service. As members of the civil service, we often face challenges that can compound our stress, lead to professional burnout or other mental health issues.
It is, therefore, important to make efforts to take care of our mental health. This will help us cope better with stress and professional challenges. This also allows us to build better relationships with co-workers, superiors, subordinates and, as a result, create a friendly working environment.
Why should we take care of our mental health?
Daily functioning
We have a better sense of well-being, function better in different spheres of life (private and professional) and are physically healthier.
Relationships with others
We build positive relationships both at work and in private life.
Effectiveness at work
We are more engaged and creative and cope with daily tasks more effectively.
Resistance to stress
We cope better with stress and difficulties and suffer less often from professional burnout.
Attendance at work
We are less likely to be absent from work.
