23.06.2021Business enhanced by designDespite the pandemic, in 2020 the Polish Patent Office received the same number of industrial design applications as in 2019, and the data from the European Union Intellectual Property Office shows that continuously since 2019, Poland ranks 4th in terms of the number of industrial design applications, just behind Germany, Italy and France. Out of these countries, only Poland and Germany saw an increase in the number of notifications over the period, with Poland showing the largest increase of 2%. Today, Robert Tomanek, Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Labour and Technology, participated in the “Business Strengthened by Design” conference held by the Polish Patent Office where he held discussions on how aesthetic, utilitarian and functional design can improve the performance of companies, including small enterprises.

The meeting providing an economic summary of the Polish Presidency of the V4 Group, was attended, alongside Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin, by Visegrad partners: – Czech Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havliček, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Richard Sulik, László Palkovics – Hungarian Minister of Innovation and Technology and – Bruno Le Maire – French Minister of Economy, Finance and Reconstruction as a special guest. The meeting concluded with the signing of a declaration on mutual cooperation for the development of the pharmaceutical industry.

The Black Book was created on the basis of comments and cases reported directly to the Ministry by entrepreneurs. It will be forwarded to the Commissioner responsible for the Internal Market and the Member States with the intention to look together for practical solutions to identified irregularities.

Poland's Industrial Policy provides guidance and well-defined forms of support for industrial sectors. It also serves to reinforce reindustrialisation, which is important from the EU perspective, and to establish strategic autonomy. The Industrial Policy is a part of the Plan for Labour and Economic Development.
