230th anniversary of Constitution of 3 May and #WybitnePolki/OutstandingPolishWomen campaign
19.05.2021
“Two weeks that passed since the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May are a good opportunity to sum up promotion activities by the MFA and Polish diplomatic missions, which – despite the persistent pandemic-related restrictions – performed with great momentum across the world,” said Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk during today’s media briefing. Another image campaign is also coming to an end today – #WybitnePolki/Outstanding Polish Women promotes eminent Polish females abroad.
Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk presented key promotional projects
to mark the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May, carried out in cooperation with different institutions in Poland. The anniversary was celebrated on all continents and included various promotional activities such as concerts, exhibitions, seminars, films, articles and social media campaigns. An important point was the cooperation of Polish and Lithuanian missions across the world. With the anniversary in mind, a joint logotype was designed to commemorate the adoption of the Governance Act and the Mutual Pledge of the Two Nations.
Deputy head of Polish diplomacy welcomed the fact that Poland and Lithuania jointly celebrate the 230th anniversary of the two landmark events. The joint celebrations included, among others, the visit of presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia an Ukraine in Warsaw and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki’s visit in Vilnius.
Deputy Minister also informed the audience about the completion of another image campaign – #WybitnePolki/Outstanding Polish Women promoting eminent Polish females abroad. Its purpose was to show the world the outstanding women, both renowned and those whose names rung fewer bells, and their meaningful contribution to the development of civilisation and culture, both in Poland and abroad. Irena Sendlerowa was the historical figure used to inaugurate the communications on 24 March 2021, National Day of Remembrance of Poles Rescuing Jews under German occupation. The action ends today (19 May) with a book presentation.
The campaign also embraced the heroine of the strikes in the Gdańsk Shipyard Anna Walentynowicz and three Polish Nobel laureates: Maria Skłodowska-Curie, Wisława Szymborska, and Olga Tokarczuk. Remembered was also the painter Olga Boznańska and more contemporary figures of the Himalayan climber Wanda Rutkiewicz, Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz, the first woman to sail solo around the world, and Maria Siemionow, an outstanding transplant surgeon, the first to successfully transplant a face in the US. A group of eight first Polish female MPs was also presented, and the fact was used to recall that Polish women were among the first in Europe to get voting rights, immediately after the country regained independence as early as in November 1918.
The campaign ran on the social media profiles of Poland.pl, Polish Institutes and other foreign missions around the world, mainly on Facebook and Twitter. This allowed to reach a particularly wide audience, given the pandemic restrictions.
