Minister Sikorski stressed that Poland is shocked by the deadly strike on seven members of a humanitarian organisation delivering aid in Gaza. This is all the more so as the attack targeted World Central Kitchen, a completely non-political entity which in the past helped refugees from Ukraine in Poland as well as Israeli citizens evacuated after the Hamas attack.

The head of the Polish MFA said that the case is being investigated by the Polish public prosecution service and that the incident should be considered in criminal terms. In response, he heard assurances from Minister Katz that the Israeli investigation “will be independent.”

Minister Israel Katz expressed his condolences to the Polish government, nation, and family of the Polish volunteer killed in the attack and said that the investigation will help prevent such incidents in the future. He assured that the Israeli government is concerned about the safety of civilians and humanitarian workers during the ongoing conflict. He emphasised that for the Israeli authorities the goal is to eliminate Hamas, which poses a threat to the civilian population.

Minister Sikorski stressed that for the credibility of Israel's actions and the future of peace in the Middle East it is essential that the current military action in Gaza be accompanied by a political process and the presentation of proposals to the Palestinian people.
