COVID-19 vaccines for Laos
13.12.2021
Poland sent 138,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Laos. The donation is an expression of our solidarity and will to support the local healthcare system. In recent months, the pandemic situation in Laos has deteriorated sharply; at present, the country reports the highest numbers of infections since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bearing in mind that vaccination is one of the most effective ways of preventing COVID-19, the government of Laos has appealed to the international community for assistance in this regard. Poland responded positively to the plea and donated vaccines to Laos. At the moment, our country's vaccine stockpile covers the national demand, which allows us to share with other countries in need.
Over the past few weeks, Poland has sent COVID-19 vaccines to, among others, Egypt, Vietnam, Taiwan, Kenya, Ukraine, Australia, Norway, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bangladesh, Rwanda, and the Philippines. The dispatch was possible thanks to the MFA’s cooperation with the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health, and the Government Agency for Strategic Reserves.
