The meetings focused on areas of potential cooperation between Poland and France, also in the European dimension, on political, economic, and humanitarian assistance for Ukraine. Also the sanctions and possibilities of their reinforcement were discussed. Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk argued that pressure on Russia in this respect should continue, in particular in the energy sector, since economic and political isolation of Russia can persuade it to change its actions. The deputy minister also encouraged his partners to support the pro-European efforts of Ukraine. Furthermore, the officials talked about potential Polish-French cooperation on the provision of humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians in Ukraine.

During his visit, the deputy minister thanked Paris for its solidarity in the face of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and France’s efforts as part of its presidency of the EU Council to keep the EU united in the midst of the crisis. The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy also presented the activities undertaken by the Polish government to assist refugees. The talks also covered France’s possible further involvement in efforts to help the Ukrainians who reached Poland. During his visit to Paris, the deputy minister gave an interview to Le Figaro newspaper.
