On 16–17 March, Deputy Minister Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef visited North Rhine-Westphalia. She took part in a ceremony honouring the first Polish queen, Richeza of Lotharingia, held on Sunday in the Cologne Cathedral.
The event hosted by the cathedral was organised by the Polish Catholic Mission and the Consulate General in Cologne. The ceremony was of special importance as this year marks the millenary of Bolesław I the Brave’s coronation as King of Poland.
Undersecretary of State Anna Radwan also attended a concert of a Polish pianist, Krzysztof Wierciński, the second prize winner at the 53rd Polish Chopin Piano Competition. The concert was organised by the Polish Institute in Düsseldorf as part of the ongoing Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
On the second day of her visit, Minister Anna Radwan-Röhrenschef met with Ina Brandes, Minister for Culture and Science in the North Rhine-Westphalia government. They discussed the cooperation in cultural diplomacy, science diplomacy, local government, and joint support for Ukraine. Other items on their agenda were a Polish–German history textbook and study visits aimed at strengthening the two countries’ cooperation. Similar topics were covered in the minister’s talks with Professor Jürgen Rüttgers, former prime minister in the North Rhine-Westphalia government.
