Deputy Minister Jabłoński takes part in meeting of EU development cooperation ministers
15.06.2021
Cooperation between the EU and middle-income countries as well as promoting human development, in particular education and health care, were the main topics of today’s informal video conference of EU development cooperation ministers.
“The EU’s cooperation with middle-income countries should focus on education and health care, creation of new jobs, engaging the private sector, as well as on building strong state institutions. Poland’s unique experience of economic and political transition and integration with global markets should be used in strengthening the EU’s partnership with middle-income countries, especially those in the Eastern Partnership region and in the Western Balkans,” emphasised the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy. He also noted the social and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in middle-income countries and the associated challenges to development cooperation.
Speaking about human development, Deputy Minister Jabłoński pointed to the importance of human dimension measures in eradicating poverty and meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as to the fact that they are at the heart of Poland’s bilateral development assistance. He furthermore emphasised the need for a systemic approach to supporting education and strengthening health care systems in partner countries.
