Deputy Minister Jabłoński visits Vilnius

08.04.2022

The deputy head of Polish diplomacy visited Lithuania on 7-8 April.

Deputy Minister Jabłoński met with Lithuania’s Deputy Foreign Minister Raimundas Karoblis

On the first day, Deputy Foreign Minister Jabłoński attended a seminar on the enhancement of the Three Seas Initiative cooperation in cyber security and telecommunications organised by Poland’s embassy in Vilnius. During his address, the official underlined that the Three Seas Initiative should keep developing cooperation in the area of cyber security and that our region has the potential to become a global supplier of proven and secure solutions for digital network security.

The seminar was also an opportunity to establish business contacts between the suppliers and buyers of cyber security services and solutions, and to discuss the development of the Open RAN-based 5G network in the region.

Deputy Minister Jabłoński also met with Lithuania’s Deputy Foreign Minister Raimundas Karoblis. The diplomats talked about Russian invasion of Ukraine, in particular about the coordination of Polish and Lithuanian activities on the EU forum to exercise pressure on countries which oppose strict sanctions targeting Russia. “The international community must take immediate steps to investigate into the war crimes in Ukraine and hold the perpetrators responsible,” said the Polish deputy minister. The two diplomats also discussed bilateral cooperation, Polish schools in Lithuania, and economic collaboration, as well as the preparations for the next Three Seas Initiative Summit scheduled to take place in Riga this June.

While in Vilnius, the deputy minister also inaugurated an exhibition of young Sigismund II Augustus’ Rennaisance armour at the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania and visited the memorial site in Ponary, where he laid flowers at the monument commemorating victims of the massacre.
