Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński meets with Italy’s Minister for European Affairs Vincenzo Amendola

On 30 March 2022, Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński held a meeting with Italy’s Minister for European Affairs Vincenzo Amendola. The meeting focused on possible areas of cooperation between Poland and Italy to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine and actions to be taken by the whole EU to stop Russian aggression.

Deputy Minister Jabłoński presented Ukraine’s humanitarian needs and the challenges Poland is facing as Ukrainian refugees are flowing into the country. The MFA deputy head noted the high costs incurred by Poland as it hosts refugees on its territory, and thanked for Italy’s support. In this context, he also hoped for the European funds to be eventually launched.  

The Italian minister expressed his full support for measures taken by Poland and praised Polish society for its outstanding engagement in helping Ukraine and its people. He also assured Deputy Minister Jabłoński of his readiness to support Poland. The interlocutors also highlighted the need to step up the seizure of Russian assets in the EU and take a coherent position by the Union on making its member states independent of Russian raw materials.
