The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy met with Melanie Huml in Warsaw on Wednesday, 23 March. The talks focused on humanitarian aid for refugees from Ukraine.

Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk meets with Bavarian State Minister for European and International Affairs

The deputy foreign minister Szynkowski vel Sęk presented a comprehensive system of material and financial assistance provided by Poland. He called on Germany to create a structure of essential aid benefits, and outlined the framework of initiatives aimed at helping Ukrainian children orphaned as a result of the war.

Minister Huml emphasised that Bavaria has taken in a third of refugees from Ukraine who arrived in Germany. She noted that the visit of Polish, Slovenian, and Czech prime ministers was appreciated in Germany and was an expression of courage and solidarity with the fighting Ukraine. Polish efforts to deliver humanitarian aid also met with a positive response from the German society. Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk highlighted that Poland expects Germany to take bold and decisive steps with regard to sanctions against Russia, in particular in the energy sector.
