Foreign Service Day

16.11.2022

16 November marks Foreign Service Day. So important to Polish diplomats and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the holiday falls on the anniversary of the telegram sent on 16 November 1918 by Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Armed Forces Józef Piłsudski. In it, he notified the international community of the rebirth of an independent Polish state after 123 years of foreign rule.

Foreign Service Day

Foreign Service Day provides an opportunity to promote the knowledge of the Polish foreign service, including the centuries-old legacy of our diplomacy.

In view of the tragic events that we face in 2022 because of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, an active and professional diplomacy is a particularly important tool of the Polish State.

Thanks to the commitment of its diplomats, Poland consistently pursues its interests worldwide on a bilateral and multilateral level. Examples include this year’s Polish chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the last three years of our engagement at the UN Human Rights Council. We are a constructive partner within the European Union, NATO, the UN, and other international organisations and regional formats.
