In the seventh edition of the Polish-Columbian sports diplomacy programme participate 10 students from Tolima department (center-west Colombia).
During their stay in Poland (September 18 - 26, 2022), the students undergo futsal trainings at the AZS AWF club, play friendly matches with Polish peers and visit Warsaw and Kraków. A group of Colombian female futsal players also met with Head of The Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki. The young sportswomen also had the opportunity to talk with the captain of Legia Female Futsal Team, Magdalena Zduńczyk.
Head of The Foreign Service welcomed the young Colombians girls and expressed hope that after returning to Colombia, they will talk about our country and its habitants and encourage their colleagues to visit Poland. He also emphasized that "sport is a particularly important element of life, shaping strength of character and giving a sense of dignity and success.
On the basis of a bilateral agreement of 2015, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Poland and Colombia have been carrying out for the last seven years sports diplomacy projects for Colombian youth from regions affected by the activities of guerrilla or organized crime and areas at risk of permanent marginalization. So far, 89 students of various sports disciplines have visited Poland. Due to the fact that sport is one of the ways to achieve life aspirations, participation in trainings conducted by qualified instructors is a very attractive form of improving skills in individual sport disciplines and a way to get to know each other.
