Jarosław Marek Nowak appointed Foreign Minister’s new Plenipotentiary for Contacts with the Jewish Diaspora

A community activist and entrepreneur, Jarosław Marek Nowak will be in charge of measures to develop Polish-Jewish relations, working together with relevant units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He took up his post on 6 July 2021.
Mr Nowak (b. 1969 in Łódź) holds a master’s degree in administration from the University of Łódź. Previously, he had executive roles at tourism and promotion companies, among others he was the director of Foreign Expansion at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency. He also took part in projects organised as part of the Polish Year in Israel by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.
Since the 1980s, the new Plenipotentiary has been committed to Polish-Jewish dialogue. He partnered with, among others, an Israeli association of former residents of Łódź and with the Jewish diaspora in Canada. In 2009, he organised the commemorations of the 60th anniversary of the Liquidation of the Litzmannstadt Ghetto in Łódź. The same year he was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit by President Lech Kaczyński for his contribution to Polish-Jewish reconciliation. Jarosław Marek Nowak has a fluent command of English and Russian and also speaks German.
