Maciej Lang appointed new Polish Ambassador to Romania

Today, on behalf of the Polish President, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz has presented Maciej Lang with the nomination to the position of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Romania.
Maciej Lang graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science at the University of Warsaw in 1993. In 2016, he obtained his PhD degree in Humanities at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw.
In the years 1993 – 1997, Maciej Lang worked at the Department for Migration and Refugee Affairs at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. In 1997, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Between 1997 and 2003, he was a counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Almaty. After the posting, he served as adviser to the minister in the MFA’s Department of Europe and then the Department of Eastern Policy. From April 2006, Maciej Lang headed the Polish Embassy in Greece as chargé d’affaires. In 2007 – 2009, he was the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Turkmenistan and from August 2009 to June 2012, he was in charge of the Polish diplomatic mission in Kabul. Following his return, Maciej Lang was appointed Plenipotentiary of the Minister of National Defence for foreign missions.
From 2014 to 2015, Maciej Lang headed the regional team of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine. In August 2015, he was appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Kazakhstan, and in November that year he was also nominated as Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan. From October 2016 to November 2018, he was the Polish Ambassador to Turkey. From November 2018, he took the office of the Undersecretary of State for security, the Americas, and the Eastern Policy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He is the author of numerous publications and analytical studies devoted to Central Asia and the Middle East.
In 2012 he was decorated with the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
