The meeting fits well with the recent highly dynamic Polish-Lithuanian relations. The conversation was another opportunity to reaffirm the shared vision of both countries’ Eastern policy and common interests regarding security. The two officials also discussed the principles of cooperation within NATO regarding the upcoming Alliance summit in Washington.

One of the main points on the agenda was support for Ukraine in military terms and regarding its reconstruction and plans to join the EU and NATO. Poland’s and Lithuania’s common position on sanctions against Russia and Belarus was reiterated during the meeting. The two heads of diplomacies also declared readiness to develop cooperation, both on bilateral and multilateral level, in enhancing the security of NATO’s eastern flank borders.
