Meeting on public and cultural diplomacy

On 10 March 2021, a meeting of directors of Polish Institutes was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the form of a video conference. The session was attended by Secretary of State Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk.
During the event, 25 directors of Polish Institutes from around the world summed up the promotional activities to date in the context of the pandemic, and plans for the year ahead. In his opening speech, Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk thanked the Institutes for their quick switching into virtual operation.
“It’s great that, despite very difficult conditions, you managed to effectively implement most of the planed projects by means of new technologies,” underlined Deputy Minister Szynkowski vel Sęk. Also discussed were the priorities for the months to come, including ongoing celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Visegrad Group under Poland’s presidency of the Group, celebrations of the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of 3 May and the promotion of prominent figures of Polish culture, such as Stanisław Lem and Cyprian Norwid.
The meeting was also attended by Director-General of the Foreign Service Andrzej Papierz and representatives of institutions in close cooperation with foreign missions, i.e. the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, and for the first time Telewizja Polska S.A., which signed a cooperation agreement with the MFA last year on the promotion of Polish films abroad.
