MFA supports Polish exporters and promotes Polish science and technology
05.05.2020
Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński today held a briefing on the Polish foreign service’s economic diplomacy actions to support Polish entrepreneurs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy pointed out that the MFA has undertaken, in cooperation with other ministries and government agencies, a wide range of activities that include gathering information on offerings of equipment to fight COVID-19 and helping to purchase it, gaining access to know-how about drug therapies used worldwide, as well as assisting importers (e.g. information on restrictions and delivery logistics) and exporters. To help with the latter, the Anti-COVID Offer by Polish Business platform has been created, aimed at supporting the export of Polish products, in particular innovative and high-tech products. When presenting the platform, Deputy Minister Jabłoński stressed that the ANTI-COVID Offer tab was designed as a “one-stop shop” for information on products and solutions offered by Polish entrepreneurs and scientists, information that may prove useful in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and countering its effects. “We have spared no effort to use this occasion to widely promote Polish business and innovative high-tech solutions. We also remember that, as a result of the crisis brought about by the pandemic, chain supplies have been interrupted for delivering food products to some countries and regions in the world. This is why the platform includes a section on agri-food products,” remarked the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy.
Deputy Minister Jabłoński also recalled that in order to assist the import of personal protection equipment, the MFA launched on its portal a special site for importers.
The site presents updated information on export restrictions that 119 countries have introduced on e.g. personal protection equipment, nonwovens, and decontamination devices. There is also a delivery logistics tab which presents useful information on possible deliveries to Poland, in particular the offering of the Polish LOT airlines or railway companies. “This is our response to one of the most important challenges that is currently facing not only government agencies but also private importers,” said Deputy Minister Jabłoński.
Thanks to the MFA’s efforts, so far over 1,400 offers have been obtained on the supply of medical devices, materials for the production of personal protection equipment and other products from about 400 companies located in 49 countries. As this was accomplished in a very short period of time, it was possible to replenish medical supplies and equipment in hospitals and other healthcare facilities across Poland, and thus gradually improve their functioning.
We encourage companies and other entities to submit information on their product offerings for publication on the website, by contacting us at anti-covid.offer@msz.gov.pl.
