Among those awarded diplomatic ranks were ten experienced staff of the Ministry as well as fourteen diplomatic and consular training graduates that successfully passed the diplomatic and consular exam. The new diplomats took their oath before Minister Jacek Czaputowicz. “I hope the choice you made will be a source of pride in your service for Poland and it will also let you embark on a fascinating adventure of representing our country abroad,” said the head of Polish diplomacy.

Minister Jacek Czaputowicz also announced that in a few weeks’ time he would present the Sejm with the outlines of Polish foreign policy for 2020. In this context, he pointed to four vital aspects of Polish foreign policy that he will discuss in his speech: relations with the US, the EU, Russia, and global relations.

The ceremony was accompanied by the launch of a new edition of diplomatic and consular training. Fourteen persons, recruited in a five-stage process, started their training. For almost a year, they will be preparing for their work in the diplomatic and consular service. The new trainees include university graduates in law, European studies, oriental studies, and philology.

The MFA Diplomatic Academy is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ training centre. It organises and carries out recruitment to diplomatic and consular training, implements its curriculum, and prepares the diplomatic and consular examination. The Academy also supports the professional development of the MFA staff both in Poland and in diplomatic missions abroad.
