Minister Radosław Sikorski meets Canada's Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly

Poland's chief diplomat received today Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly as part of her visit to Europe. At the meeting, the parties welcomed the very good state of bilateral relations and cooperation between the countries, particularly in terms of security, defence, and energy.
Minister Sikorski thanked Minister Joly for Canada's involvement and actions to strengthen the eastern NATO flank, as well as for the cooperation of both countries' soldiers within a task force stationed in Ādaži, Latvia.
Other topics on the agenda included the situation in Ukraine, its possible developments in 2024, also in the context of allocating the frozen Russian assets to support and rebuild Ukraine, as well as the issue of Russia being held responsible for international crimes committed against Ukraine.
Close attention was paid to the two countries' involvement in the support for the Belarusian democratic circles and civil society, together with ways of stepping up the sanction-based pressure on Lukashenko's regime.
