Minister Radosław Sikorski met with Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi

Today’s visit of the Moldovan minister in Warsaw has mainly focused on Moldova’s accession to the European Union.
During the talks, both sides agreed on the need to accelerate the accession process and launch negotiations with Moldova and Ukraine as soon as possible. Poland intends to support Moldova’s transformation efforts in political, diplomatic, and practical dimensions.
Both ministers strongly condemned the unprecedented Russian hybrid war against the sovereignty, stability, and security of the Republic of Moldova. The Polish side declared its commitment to reinforcing the resilience of Moldova's state structures and society to these attacks. Minister Radosław Sikorski strongly advocated peaceful reintegration of the separatist Transnistria region within the independent Moldovan state, in accordance with the international law.
The Polish side also announced it will continue its multidimensional development assistance to modernise the Republic of Moldova and help it grow. In this context, particular attention was paid to the role of Solidarity Fund PL, visited by Moldova's minister, as the main tool of Poland's support for this country.
Ministers Sikorski and Popșoi declared their readiness to further deepen the bilateral strategic cooperation for regional and international security. They underlined the need for both governments' greater engagement in strengthening economic cooperation, with a particular focus on Polish direct investments in Moldova.
