This was Minister Sikorski’s first personal meeting with his Australian counterpart. The ministers discussed the most important topics on the bilateral agenda and the prospects for its expansion. The head of the Polish MFA expressed appreciation for Australia’s Ukraine support effort. The officials also covered security issues of mutual interest and noted a close link between the security environment in Europe and Asia.

As representatives of countries with similar assessments of global threats, including the interconnectedness of the security situation in Europe and the Asia-Pacific, the ministers pointed to the need to continue exchanging experiences and assessments in this area.
